So where exactly is Southern Islands and how to go?
Sentosa has been the most frequently visited Southern Island within Singapore for fun and leisure as it is filled with exhilarating attractions, accommodations and breathtaking sceneries of the famous Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong Beach. However, the Southern Islands that many are not aware of is St. John Island, Lazarus Island and Seringat Island. Getting to St. John’s Island, you will have to catch a 20 minute ferry ride. The nearest MRT Station available is Marina South Pier (NS28 North-South Line). The best way to explore St. John Island is to cycle and take yourself through its greenery and enjoy the great sunny breeze as you discover Heritage Trees like Tampinis Tree, Sea Fig etc.. The beautiful Lazarus Beach on Lazarus Island
As St. John Island and Lazarus Island are connected by a bridge, head over to the connecting bridge towards Lazarus Island. Cycle and take yourself through Lazarus Island mesmerizing white sandy beach that is shaped like a crescent with its clear blue water. Don’t forget to stop and capture the most Instagrammable photos while you’re at Lazarus Island that will definitely attract other’s attention to visit this beautiful island. If you are in luck, you might catch dolphins surfacing or jumping out of the water.
Seringat Island
Further up Lazarus Island is where Seringat Island is located. Seringat Island is one of the least visited places as compared to Lazarus and St. John Island. Therefore, this makes Seringat Island a hidden gem that has well preserved and remain untouched.
Picnic at Southern Islands
You can rent an easy pop up beach tent from the same bicycle provider- Gogreen. You are only required to stay off the sandy area and pitch the tent within the grass area and you are not required to apply for any permit. It’s an ideal and unique way to spend time with your family and friends on a picnic at Southern Islands.
